This June brings new opportunities for sweet Celebrations!

On the 9th of September 2015, Her Majesty The Queen became Britain’s Longest Reigning Monarch. On the 6th of February 2022, Elizabeth II became the very first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after reaching an outstanding 70 years on the throne. Not many leaders have attained this milestone, including the longest-serving monarch before Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria, who reached her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, an extended bank holiday will be taking place from Thursday the 2nd of June to Sunday the 5th of June, with many patriotic, exciting events filling the four-day weekend.

There will be many things happening to mark this momentous and truly British occasion a Trooping the Colour will be held, with over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians – this will also celebrate the Queen’s birthday. Starting from Buckingham Palace, the parade, alongside members of the Royal Family, will make its way down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade, finishing with an RAF fly-past while The Queen watches on from Buckingham Palace’s balcony. On this same day, beacons will be lit in places across the United Kingdom and the world simultaneously with Buckingham Palace.

The following day, a Thanksgiving service will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral, with the Platinum Party arranged for the 4th of June. This party will be filled with several of the world’s largest entertainment stars, and a live concert broadcast by the BBC from Buckingham Palace is expected.

Finally, we have The Big Jubilee Lunch, encouraging communities across the UK to celebrate together with food and fun alongside neighbours, and The Platinum Jubilee Pageant, featuring performers, military personnel, key workers, and volunteers to tell the story of The Queen’s 70-year reign in a brilliant festival.
